" ...the
philosophy we teach is a
correlation of the discoveries of science, the opinions of philosophy
and the insights of religion as
related to the needs and aspirations of humankind."
... Dr. Ernest Holmes,
Founder, Science of Mind
We are considered a NEW THOUGHT
teaching. Our principles are absent of dogma, authority and ritual.
There are no statues or sacraments. There are no sacred texts insofar as
believing in one way, one belief, one teacher. Every person is free to
learn from all the Master Teachers - Christ, Buddha, Gandhi, Mohammed -
and look for the universal message of God and Love through all of them.
We blend Western teachings with Eastern philosophies to create the
foundation and spiritual practice that has become our lives.
- Some of our teachers are:
Jesus of Nazareth
Lao Tsu and the Tao Te Ching
Ernest Holmes and The Science of Mind
Charles & Myrtle Fillmore and Unity
Joel Goldsmith and The Infinite Way
- Thomas Troward and The Edinburgh Lectures
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
- The mystical stories of the Old & New Testaments
- Bhagavad-Gita
and so many more.
SUPPOSE there was a spiritual community which instead of
making some people or their religion wrong, found good in all persons
and in all religions...
SUPPOSE there was a spiritual community for people who are
more interested in being FOR something than against something...
Religious Science, also known as Science of
Mind
or Spiritual Science or Spiritual Psychology is an applied Spiritual
philosophy that enhances and empowers one's relationship to life,
family, work, other people, the environment, the world and the
Creator. We view life as a joyful mystery to be lived, not a problem to
be solved.
We call God: Spirit, Truth, Presence & Principle,
Love, & Law, Source & Supply, Universal Mind. To attempt to define God
limits the totality that is God.
Our community is comprised of people from ALL of the world's religions:
Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Sufis, Islam and Hindus. All are welcome. We open
our hearts and doors to all paths, all people and all lifestyles.
We are a metaphysical teaching, not technically a religion; nor is Buddhism for that matter. Today
popular authors such as Louise Hay, Deepak Chopra,
Neale Donald Walsh, Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer, Don Miguel Ruiz, and Eckhart Tolle to name a few--
all promote the teaching of faith in a Higher Power and the Creative Process
of Thought.
The principle spiritual practices of our teaching are
meditation/visioning, positive mental prayer, also
known as affirmative prayer (scientific
prayer, healing prayer or spiritual mind treatment),
service & tithing of time, talent and treasure,
and affirmations.
We also believe in spiritual study (education) as a way to support
our personal growth.
Affirmative prayer came
from the idea of unpredictable medical treatments of the late 1700s and
early 1800s and was reborn as prayer treatment or mind treatment by Quimby, Eddy,
Hopkins and the
other early New Thought practitioners. Prayer has been used in
healing for thousands of years. We believe in the healing power of prayer.
However, we also believe in seeking assistance from medical doctors-- a pill
or a prayer-- whatever works-- it's all Spirit anyway!
-
- We also promote SEVA (which is Sanskrit for selfless service to Spirit) as a spiritual practice.
Today, scientists concur with the ideas we have
been teaching for 100 years: our thoughts are creative and this is indeed
how we create our reality. We teach how to direct this creative process.
Our teaching is for the courageous, for it asks
us to take
responsibility for everything that is going on in our life.

We honor all paths and lifestyles.

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the
entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
